HISTORY - CANYONLANDS NATIONAL PARK

Over time the Canyonlands preserved a colorful landscape that has been eroded into the countless canyons, mesas and buttes by the Colorado River and its tributaries. The Colorado River has divided the park into four distinct areas of touring, namely: the Island in the Sky, the Needles, the Maze and the rivers themselves. Each area shares a primitive desert atmosphere with the rest, while retaining its own character and offering different opportunities to explore the wonders of Canyonlands National Park.
